Happy Thanksgiving!

Every year we do Thanksgiving the Sunday before the actual Thanksgiving because "The Golden Child" has to go play soccer in Las Vegas or San Diego. So this year me and Char decided to do a chinese dinner on Thanksgiving. Here our my recipes!

Home made sweet and sour sauce! Yum-O!

Boil 4 cups of water.
Add:
1 orange peeled and cut in quarters
1/2 lemon peeles and cut in half
2 Tbsp onion
1 Tbsp ginger peeled
1/2 Tbsp veg oil
Turn to low and simmer for 45 min.
Strain mixture keeping all the juice. Return juice to pot.
Add to juices:
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp ketchup
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
1 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp red food coloring
1/2 Tbsp yellow food coloring
Boil
In seperate bowl combine 1/2 cup cornstarch with 4 Tbsp water.
It says to add the cornstarch mixture to the boiling pot but it always clumps up on my because there is not enough water in the cornstarch. So I take about a cup of the boiling concoction and add it to the cornstarch mixture to thin it out. Than I pour everything into the pot. It thickens up very fast!

Sweet and Sour chicken batter: ( From Laura Gonzales)
1 cup flower
1 cup cornstarch
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 cup water

Blend well!
